Hyder, AK to Dease Lake, BC

Sunday, May 15, 2011

Left Hyder, Alaska around 9:00, went through the border crossing back into British Columbia, hoping to say goodbye to Justin (the BC customs agent), but he wasn’t working. We stopped at Bear Glacier and had breakfast.

We’re on our own this morning so we’re just going to stop along 37A wherever we see a great photo opportunities. Heading to Dease Lake, BC today. We saw some bears along the way. It was a very pretty drive. We were all meeting back up at Bell II Lodge. This is a heliskiing lodge in the winter. The staff had lunch waiting for us. When we were done, we all got back into the caravan and continued on the Cassiar Hwy. We arrived at Dease Lake campground. Not much here, small little town. We walked over to the only gift shop in town where I got a couple more pins for my vest, then over to the market and back to the campground. We had dinner and joined our group around the community gazebo campfire. Had another nice evening visiting and getting to know our fellow travelers/adventurers. It was still somewhat light outside when we went to bed at 11:00pm.
